LEO DISTRICT 404B2 HOSTS CHRISTMAS PARTY FOR DISABLED CHILDREN. TAGGED POSH BABY.

The District President given out gift to one of the orphan
Christmas comes across the world with lots of celebrations, felicitations and expressions of love. Celebrations among friends and family are very common at this time of the year. What is, however, not common at Christmas is when a youth organisation decides to fete children of a Home for the Disabled to a Christmas party. This was what happened on December 27th 2014 when members of Leo District 404B2 Nigeria hosted children residing at the Centre for Destitute & Empowerment International – a home for disabled children located in Idimu Lagos.

The Christmas party tagged ‘Posh Baby’ was rightfully themed so because toys and dolls were donated by Leos, the Leo district and other well meaning members of the public and presented to the children of the home. The party which started at about 1pm had members and representatives of Leo Clubs from all regions of the Leo district, was anchored by the Chief of Staff to the District President, Leo Kolawole

The Leo district presented the toys and teddy bears to the management of the Home headed by Pastor Samson Okoliko, for the use of the children as a show of love and affection to them. Also to make the event memorable was the presence of Santa to gives presents to the kids in the home.

Leo District President, Leo Deji Olukokun also used the event to appraise the performance of all clubs in the district for the first half of the year. He chronicled the activities of the district so far and expressed his appreciation to all Leos for the support and encouragement he was given since the beginning of the service year. He also admonished all clubs to do better than they have done and to always submit monthly M & A reports to the district as that is the official medium of reporting activities. He informed all Leos present that only 6 clubs could be effectively appraised based on reports received from them.

He ended his appraisal by presenting appreciation awards to Leos who had done very well in the last 6 months of the year and thanked them for their commitment to the success of his administration. The coordinator of the home Pastor Samson also used the opportunity to express his profound appreciation for the kind gesture. He said the event is one of the best the home has ever witnessed and he begged that the District should continually remember the children and to always extend their hands of love. Some key Leo personalities present at the project were Leo Tosin Ijaduola, Past Leo District President; Leo Dolapo Macaulay, 1st Vice District President; Leo Damola Odufuwa, 2nd Vice District President; Leo Adeola Balogun, District Secretary; Leo Monsurat Busari, District Treasurer; Leo Peter Bruno Whedewu, 1st Vice District President for District 404B1 as well as District Coordinators, Club Presidents and members of Leo clubs from across the district. 21yr Old Barber Slashes Girlfriends neck Two days Before NewYear

Eighteen-year-old Boluwatife Ajadi had been looking forward to enjoying the New Year festivity with her family in peace and happiness, but she spent it in agony on a hospital bed, hanging on to life. Boluwatife, who finished secondary school in September 2014, fell victim of a vicious attack by a scorned suitor, a young man who had been seeking her hand in a romantic friendship, around 11pm on December 30, 2014. But the culprit, 21-year-old Sakiru Buari, insisted that Boluwatife was his girlfriend. When our correspondent visited Samas Hospital, a private health facility in Baruwa area of Lagos, there was no way of speaking with Boluwatife. She had been unable to speak since the attack, her family said. The girl had been induced to sleep by the hospital staff. Her elder sister, Adeola, who narrated what happened, said she had feared that her sister might not survive the attack which left a long and deep gash on her neck. A picture of the fresh wound showed part of the girl’s neck, flesh that is almost the size of a palm, hanging loose. “The man used a razor to cut her neck,” Adeola began. “There was no doubt that he actually wanted to kill her. It all started about 11pm when we were hearing a noise outside our house on Alhaja Wasilat Street, Baruwa. Someone was shouting ‘thief, thief’ and we all rushed outside but I did not realise my sister was not inside with us. “When I went outside, I saw someone staggering towards us holding her neck. She was struggling to call for help. By the time I realised it was my sister, she collapsed on the ground.” Saturday PUNCH learnt that soon after the attack, neighbours who had heard Boluwatife’s initial alert for help, were able to catch Buari who had attempted to flee at the time. “When they caught him, the man was even saying that he regretted that she did not die. All I could do was scream for help as I went to where my sister collapsed. “At that time of the night, nobody was willing to help us. No vehicle stopped for us to take her to the hospital. At a point, I had to go to the middle of the road pleading for help. By the time Boluwatife got to the hospital, she had lost so much blood that her soaked clothes were dripping blood, it was learnt. “Eventually, a young man at the scene picked her up from the ground and carried her towards the nearest hospital with the help of other eyewitnesses.” Banging on the door of the hospital with screams, those who carried Boluwatife were admitted into the compound as the doctor on duty went to work on the barely conscious girl. Adeola, said she had never seen the man who attacked her sister before that day and was sure he was not her sister’s boyfriend. “The man must not escape justice,” she said. Their father, Gabriel, said he was not at home at the time of the attack but could not imagine what could have pushed the man to want to kill her daughter. He said, “I even thought she was dead when I was called to the scene and saw the amount of blood on the ground. “The place looked like a slab where an animal had been slaughtered. We are lucky that residents of our street called the beast who did this to my daughter. “He said it to my face that he had no regret for what he did and was even angry that she survived the attack. At least, we are happy that he had confessed to the attack and we cannot wait to see him off to jail.” The police at the Ipaja Division, Baruwa, have taken Buari into custody with promises that the suspect would be prosecuted appropriately since he had confessed to the crime. The Divisional Police Officer, Mr. Ajewole Adebayo, a Chief Superintendent of Police, said Buari would be transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigations, Yaba, Lagos, as soon as his men had finished their part of the investigations. When our correspondent and child and woman rights activist, Esther Ogwu, visited the police division, Buari, who was still wearing the clothes soiled with bloodstains, had caked blood on his hands. “I don’t know what came over me at the time,” he said. The young man who said he was from Abeokuta, Ogun State, explained that he dropped out of school in senior secondary year one. “She is my girlfriend and I don’t have any reason to kill her. We did not fight. I just don’t know the spirit that came over me at the time I brought out a razor and slashed her neck. I know now that what I did was terrible,” he said, as he looked away with. Buari said both his parents were dead and that the only known relation he had was in Abeokuta. He said he works as a barber even though he did not have a shop of his own. Ogwu, who has taken over the girl’s case, said that the most important evidence of the case would be the explanation of the victim herself. “Unfortunately, she is not in any condition to speak at this time. But like every case of assault involving women, we would ensure that the girl gets justice in this case,” she said.

Priest Says Jonathan will Lose February’s Election

Christopher Isiguzo in Enugu Less than a month after anointing First Lady Patience Jonathan, assuring her of the president’s second term, fiery catholic priest and founder of Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Rev. Father Ejike Mbaka, has predicted that President Goodluck Jonathan would lose February’s election. Citing a bird that failed to fly in a ritual he performed, Mbaka said the reality on ground now as well as a revelation from God did not favour Jonathan’s continuity beyond May 29 this year. This ”revelation from God” came in the form of one of the birds – which ”symbolized the President” – that he released during Mrs. Jonathan’s visit to his Adoration Ground refusing to fly. Delivering a sermon tagged, “From Good luck to Bad luck” during the end-of-year Adoration mass to usher in the new year Wednesday night, Father Mbaka said he and millions of other compatriots were disappointed by the Jonathan administration which has failed to ensure the release of the Chibok girls kidnapped by the Boko Haram terrorists over 200 days ago. He lampooned the President for ”his poor performance” in the past six years, Rev. Fr. Mbaka had anointed Mrs. Patience Jonathan as the next Nigerian First Lady in 2015 when she, alongside the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, and his wife, Nwanneka , worshipped at the Adoration Ministry. Fr. Mbaka had, after anointing Mrs. Jonathan that day, released some birds to go and fight for Jonathan. The First Lady had announced that she had experienced “a spiritual rebirth” at the event. But last Wednesday night at the end-of-year Adoration mass, Mbaka said Jonathan was going nowhere as far as this year’s election was concerned, recalling that one of the birds – which symbolized the President – he released during Mrs. Jonathan’s visit to the Adoration Ground had refused to fly. “All the other birds I released flew away but the healthiest of them, which is Jonathan’s bird, could not fly. I tried to make it fly but it could not fly,” he told the huge excited congregation that cheered him on. Source: thisday

Father Mbaka: President Jonathan should resign honourably

Nigeria’s controversial Catholic priest, Father Camilius Ejike Mbaka has asked President Goodluck Jonathan to quit office honourably, saying that the message is from the Oracle of the Holy Spirit. In a new year message to his flock, at the Adoration Ground in Enugu, eastern Nigeria, Mbaka said the Holy Spirit told him that Nigeria is at the brink of change, following the bad leadership provided in the last six years by President Jonathan. According to Mbaka, Goodluck leadership of Nigeria has turned into a national bad luck. The theme of his message was: From Good Luck to bad Luck. “Goodluck met our oil, it turned to bad luck. He met our Naira, it became bad luck. We need change. Christmas that ought to be Goodluck Christmas became bad luck Christmas, he said, to the applause of thousands of people who attended the open air event. Mbaka said he is worried about the future of Nigerian youths, the collapse of roads and the insecurity in the country. To him, the re-election of Jonathan will spell disaster for the country and repeatedly asked him to quit. “Nigeria is like an egg in the hands of Nigeria. We cannot allow him to break it. ..The way Nigeria is going, let Goodluck just go”. Mbaka also criticised clerics who he said have been compromised by President Jonathan. They should speak up, he said and ”drop the money they have collected”. “My interest is in the survival of our country”, he said and swore that he has not entered into any covenant with any politician to say what he said. He criticised President Jonathan’s record in the fight against insurgents, saying at no time in the history of Nigeria, since the civil war, had we shed so much blood like now. Seeking divine intervention, Mbaka said: “the same God that saved us from Ebola will save us from bad luck season

Did Buhari promise to make Nigeria ungovernable?

In 2010, as reported by various sections of the media, Lawal Keita, a PDP chieftain stated that if a person from the North did not win the 2011 elections, Nigeria will be made ungovernable . Below are links to that effect as reported by the press when that statement was made. http://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2010/10/08/group-wants- kaita-tried-for-treason/ In April 2011, Reuben Abati slandered Buhari in The Guardian about same statements of making Nigeria ungovernable. Buhari sued Abati to court in 2011 for damaging his name. President Jonathan begged Buhari on behalf of Abati to settle out of court because Abati might end up in jail. On 11 July 2012 Rueben Abati and The Guardian published an unreserved apology to Buhari. http://newsrescue.com/rueben-abati-retracts-libelous- invention-linking-buhari-terror-compensates-general- damages/ Also check. http://newsrescue.com/exposed-pdp-promised-make-nigeria-ungovernable-2011-buhari-never/#axzz3NloFZFdx
