We Voted Buhari The Dictator Because We Needed It Tough On Polithiefcians

It appears the boys in the Senate are out to rubbish Baba. They were afraid at the initial time because of the Baba of the old. But now that they know that Baba wants to be seen as a Democrat, they are out to use Constitutional loopholes to trap him.
Unfortunately for Baba he is looking at democracy only from the American mirror, he is yet to understand that democracies come in phases, shades and forms. For a DEMOCRACY like ours, it is still a growing one. With the kind of military experience we had over the years and the criminal tendencies of average Nigerian Politicians, we need a civilian dictatorship driven by a man of integrity with love for country until such a time when everybody have been beaten into shape as it happened in Singapore.
We are not yet ready for the kind of democracy that Baba is practicing. We need speed. There is need to cut a lot bureaucracratic tapes and get things in shape quickly. We are making a lot of excuses with democracy. Ours has to be modeled to suit our needs.
Unfortunately we knew Baba was a tough man before we voted him in. Now If Baba cannot take tough stands, especially against some rascally governors, Ministers, civil servants, judges and criminal junta senators, as Obasanjo did, then the critical reason for bringing him to power is lost.
Imagine how the Senate denied him the opportunity to borrow money to get the economy out of recession. They are seating on a bill that is supposed to speed up war against corruption. They are refusing to open their books and budget for scrutiny and many of them are people who are either running from Justice or are drawing us back from justice.
Why can't we have a civilian dictatorship?
We may complain about tough stands in the beginning but in the end it will pay. Although we should encourage diplomacy and the rule of law but there should be no banters with criminals and those who insist on making the country ungovernable and those who think only about their selfish interest.
With what the way the Senate is playing with Baba, it will be difficult to achieve anything of note or to move speedily. Baba should go to the trenches with these pedestrian Senate and rescue his administration from delays. Some Senators who are supposed to be in jail have highjacked the legislature and are using it to manipulate the system. Baba must bring people like Asiwaju Bola Tinubu closer and make his executive be up and doing. The Senate is making Baba look weak.
I am angry.

STATE OF WE IN NATION

My unreasonable written ?

I repeat, PMB is not the problem of Nigeria. Take it or leave it.
WHO ARE THE KLEPTOCRATS?
Read this intriguing and provocative piece; yet Nigerians refuse to be provoked instead holding one man, Buhari, responsible for all their woes!
How far can you push a Nigerian before he reacts like an angry lion?
Isn't it a ridiculous mockery and insult that Nigerians are the only world citizens that when pushed to the wall, spend more energy to break the wall and cross over rather than fight back?
Read this and let's know who our real enemies and shameless oppressors are - GOVERNORS, EX-GOVERNORS, SENATORS, REPS. Can't we do something to get rid of these big thieves that use our power against us?

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

NIGERIANS WAKE UP!
A lion never shies away from a fight when it is hungry, neither does it blame the buffalo for resisting or refusing to be eaten.
How come our forefathers dared death and everything to give us a sane society?
Shaaaaaame!!!
Please endeavour to read this very interesting piece!

STATE OF THE NATION
A SELF DECEIVING COUNTRY CALLED NIGERIA

Twenty-one senators currently receiving pensions from government as ex-governors and deputy governors.
The current senators who once served as governors are Bukola Saraki of Kwara, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano, Kabiru Gaya of Kano, Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom, Theodore Orji of Abia, Abdullahi Adamu of Nasarawa, Sam Egwu of Ebonyi, Shaaba Lafiagi of Kwara, Joshua Dariye of Plateau Jonah Jang of Plateau, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko of Sokoto, Ahmed Sani Yarima of Zamfara, Danjuma Goje of Gombe, Bukar Abba Ibrahim of Yobe, Adamu Aliero of Kebbi, George Akume of Benue and Isiaka Adeleke of Osun.
The  former deputy governors in the Senate are Ms Biodun Olujimi of Ekiti and Enyinaya Harcourt Abaribe of Abia. Danladi Abubakar Sani served as the acting governor of Taraba state.
Many former governors are also in Buhari's Cabinet as Ministers. This includes: Ngige, Fayemi, Amaechi and Fashola (SAN).).
In Akwa Ibom State, the law provides that ex governors and deputy governors receive pension equivalent to the salaries of the incumbent. The package also includes a new official car and a utility vehicle every four years; one personal aide; a cook, chauffeurs and security guards for the governor at a sum not exceeding N5 million per month and N2.5 million for his deputy governor.
In Rivers, the law provides 100 percent of annual basic salaries for the ex-governor and deputy, one residential house for the former governor “anywhere of his choice in Nigeria”; one residential house anywhere in Rivers for the deputy, three cars for the ex-governor every four years and two cars for the deputy every four years.
It is alleged that in Lagos, a former governor will get two houses, one in Lagos and another in Abuja, estimated at N500 million in Lagos and N700 million in Abuja. He also receives six new cars to be replaced every three years; a furniture allowance of 300 percent of annual salary to be paid every two years, and a N30 million pension annually for life.
This is the reality for all the 21 ex-governors and deputy governors who are currently serving as senators. This same is also true of ex governors who are now serving as Ministers.

NOW I ASK:

How many years did these guys serve their states as governors and deputy governors? Is it more than 8years? Is that a reason to be entitled to pensions for life? Even if they are entitled to pension for life, must it be so outrageous?
As if that is not enough: HOW on earth can any public servant with conscience collect salaries and allowances as a senator or minister, and still have the audacity to claim pensions equivalent to the salaries of a serving governor in Nigeria?

IT ISN'T ROCKET SCIENCE......

Once you are elected a senator or appointed a minister, you must forfeit any pension accruing to you from government at any level until you vacate office. This should also apply to senators collecting military pensions like former Senate President David Mark.
Yet these senators are in the Senate that is inviting the current finance minister to discuss the recession of Nigeria's economy. A senator pockets approximately 30 million naira monthly as salary and allowances. Our "honourables" are not interested to make laws that could restructure our country into economically autonomous federating States/Regions to save the country from sectional agitations that is threatening  to destroy Nigeria. The sad and hopeless situation is that the rest of Nigerians are busy arguing based on party, ethnic and affiliations while these enemies of state continue to rape us.
Do you know that it costs tax payers 290m Naira yearly to maintain each member of our National Assembly in a country where nothing works & 80% of population earn below 300 Naira a day ? A working day earning of a senator is more than a yearly income of a doctor; it's more than the salary of 42 Army generals or 48 professors or 70 commissioners of police or more than twice the pay of the US President or 9 times the salary of US congressmen.
It's high time the country had a referendum on those outrageous salaries of Senators, House of Representative members and other political office holders.

If you are seriously against the looting of our commonwealth in Nigeria, in the name of democracy, you can let this piece go viral by sharing it with as many of your contacts and groups too!

OPEN CALL : Negative Effects Of Smoking Shisha

It may interest you to know that #Shisha smoking is quite becoming the fastest trend now in parties, clubs, bars, and even some homes. Also known in some countries as narghile, hookah or goza; #Shisha is a waterpipe wit a bowl, a hose, a smoke chamber & a pipe/mouthpiece. Specially made tobacco is heated & the smoke passes through water, absorbed into a hose connected to a mouthpiece for the smoker, The origin of #Shisha is disputed, some say Turkey or India but it’s accepted it came from Middle East/Asia. Shisha is global now though.
Shisha smoking is a way of smoking tobacco, sometimes mixed with fruits or molasses sugar, through a bowl & a hose with a mouthpiece. The hose connects the flavored smoke from substances being burnt in the bowl to the lungs of the smoker through the mouthpiece Shisha pipes use tobacco sweetened wit fruits or molasses sugar which makes shisha smoking a more pleasurable experience than cigarettes.

Popular #Shisha flavors include apple, mango, strawberries, coconut & mint. This gives the smoked tobacco a sweet smell & smooth taste. The presence of the fruits & flavor makes the #Shisha damp, so the tobacco is burnt with wood/charcoal to bring out its smoke & aroma. The sweet scent, the pleasurable taste & the awesome feeling is the reason that #Shisha smoking is now a regular habit for many people. For some people, a Friday evening is not complete without at least one hour of #Shisha smoking. For others it’s up to 3 or 4 times a week.
Now because of the flavors, the sweet aroma & nice taste, there’s a gross misconception that #Shisha is NOT harmful, unlike cigarettes.
Others say since the tobacco smoke has passed through water, all the toxic chemicals in the #Shisha have been filtered out. This is a lie. I need to be very assertive in stating categorically that #Shisha smoking is a destructive habit regardless of the smoke being flavored. Despite the fact that #Shisha is flavored & passed through water, the carcinogens (cancer-causing agents) & nicotine remains very present. Regular #Shisha smokers should know they are at risk of the same medical problems as cigarette/tobacco smokers. The nicotine present in #Shisha smoke is very addictive & things may degenerate that the smoker may need the #Shisha every day.

According to a W.H.O research, the amount of smoke inhaled in one hour of #Shisha smoking is the same as smoking 100-200 cigarettes. People smoke #Shisha for longer periods than they smoke cigarettes. Just 1 puff of inhaled #Shisha smoke is like smoking a whole cigarette.
It’s hard to imagine but its true. Just one hour of #Shisha is same as smoking abt 100-200 cigarettes. Yet people smoke #Shisha for hours. The wrong assumption that Shisha smoking is harmless compared to cigarettes is the reason why many engage in reckless #Shisha smoking. Just like cigarettes, #Shisha smoke contains toxic agents like tobacco, nicotine, tar, Carbon monoxide, and heavy metals like Arsenic. The nicotine content of #Shisha is very addictive and may lead to a smoker being dependent.

That’s why they feel incomplete without it.Shisha smokers are at risk of heart disease, respiratory problems, various cancer types & in women, possible problems in pregnancy.
Is herbal #Shisha safe? NO. It is not. Shisha, whether herbal/not, usually contains tobacco & that is the cause of many medical issues. And even if u find a tobacco-free #Shisha, the smoke u inhale from the wood/charcoal contains Carbon monoxide that destroys the lungs.

Are fruit-based #Shisha safe? NO as well. Whether fruitbased or not, Shisha contains tobacco rich in smoke containing many toxins.
Also before You start feeling “This #Shisha talk is none of my business”, do u frequently visit bars/clubs where there’s a lot of Shisha smoking? If u go to bars/clubs with friends where there’s lots of #Shisha smoking, u are a secondary smoker, even if the tube isnt in your mouth. Shisha tobacco and smoke are medically known to contain carcinogenic agents that may cause lung cancer, oral cancer & bladder cancer. Babies born to pregnant women who smoke #Shisha weigh less at birth & are at higher risk of respiratory problems, than other babies.

The American Lung Association, the British Heart Foundation and the W.H.O all say that #Shisha smoking is medically harmful to smokers.
So after saying all the harmful consequences of #Shisha smoking, the solution is to STOP smoking. Let me give simple tips that may help.

1. Make up your mind to stop. That’s the first step & the most important step. Be determined to stop, even if u fail at first.

2 Try to avoid friends, occasions, bars & parties where u know u wont be able to say no to smoking. Think of ur health & stay determined

3 Always remember smoking, or drinking, is not synonymous to “class” or “being rich”. It is ignorant people that reason that way.

4 Cut down on alcohol. It has been found that some types of alcohol eg beer, usually makes smoking taste so good. Just stay away.

5 Identify times u crave #Shisha. Try to distract yourself. Walk away. Dance. Go online. Chew a gum. Make a call. Anything else but smoke.

6 Make friends with non smokers. That way u reduce temptation. Never envy smokers/see smoking as something you miss. Only think of your health.

[MUST READ] Death Of Prince Abubakar Audu And The Legal Implications - By Festus Keyamo.

The reported death today, Sunday, November 22nd, 2015, of the APC candidate in the Kogi State Governorship elections, Prince Abubakar Audu, is extremely shocking and sad. I would like to express my condolences to the entire family of Audu and to the people of Kogi State.

However, the real question agitating the minds of everybody is the legal implication regarding the inconclusive Governorship elections at the time of his demise. To state it correctly he was said to have died AFTER the announcement of the results by INEC and after INEC had declared the elections inconclusive. Admittedly, this is a strange and novel constitutional scenario. It has never happened in our constitutional history to the extent that when an election has been partially conducted (and not before or after the elections) a candidate dies. What then happens?

This is a hybrid situation between what happened in the case of Atiku Abubakar/Boni Haruna in 1999 and the provision of section 33 of the Electoral Act, 2010.

In the case of Atiku Abubakar/Boni Haruna [which is now a clear constitutional provision of section 181(1) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended)]  the Supreme Court held, in effect, that “if a person duly elected as Governor dies before taking and subscribing the Oath of Allegiance and oath of office, or is unable for any reason whatsoever to be sworn in, the person elected with him as Deputy governor shall be sworn in as Governor and he shall nominate a new Deputy-Governor who shall be appointed by the Governor with the approval of a simple majority of the house of Assembly of the State”.

In the case of section 33 of the Electoral Act 2010 it provides, in effect, that if a person has been duly nominated as a candidate of his party and he dies before the election then the political party has the right to replace him with another candidate and not necessarily the Deputy Governorship candidate.

Now, does the Kogi situation fit into section 181(1) of the Constitution as quoted above or section 33 of the Electoral Act mentioned above?

My simple position is that the Kogi situation fits more into section 181(1) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and as such James Abiodun Faleke automatically becomes the governorship candidate of the APC. This is because even though the election in inconclusive, votes have been counted and allocated to Parties and candidates. As a result the joint ticket of Audu/Faleke has acquired some votes already. James Abiodun Faleke is as much entitled to those votes already counted as much as the late Abubakar Audu. He has a right to cling to those votes going into the supplementary election.

There is only one problem, though. Who nominates Faleke’s Deputy? Unlike section 181(1) of the 1999 Constitution, he cannot approach the House of Assembly of the State to approve a nomination by him of a Deputy. This is because, in reality, he is not duly elected yet. Therefore it is only reasonable to conclude that it is APC (Faleke’s political party) that should submit the name of a fresh Deputy Governorship candidate to INEC for the supplementary election.

This is the only position in this situation that accords with reason and good sense.

FESTUS KEYAMO, ESQ.

AMAECHI'S FULL ADDRESS TO THE SENATE

AMAECHI'S FULL ADDRESS TO THE SENATE
Your Excellency, the President of Senate,
Your Excellency, the Deputy President of Senate
Your Excellency, the leader of Senate,
Your Excellency the minority leader of Senate and former Governor of Akwa Ibom State,
Distinguished leaders of the Senate
Very distinguished Senators,
Good morning. It is a rare pleasure to stand before you distinguished Senators in this hallowed chambers.
I am deeply humbled and honoured to have been nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari to serve in the office of a Minister in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
My name is Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, and I am the immediate past governor of Rivers State.
Before then, I had served as the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly for two terms of eight years and as Chairman, Conference of Speakers, for two tenures.
I am perhaps the first Nigerian to have served as Speaker of a State House of Assembly, for eight years.
I served as Governor of Rivers State for two terms during which period, I had the honour and privilege to serve my colleagues as Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, for two terms.
Taken together, whether as Governor or as Speaker, these two career paths tell a story of public service.
During my tenure as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, we achieved a lot.
Some key bills were passed like the Anti Kidnapping Law and the Rivers States Schools Rights (Parent, Children and Teachers) Law. However, my most fulfilling moment as Speaker was the passage of the Rivers State Schools Rights (Parent, Children and Teachers) law, No. 2 of 2005.
This bill clearly enunciated and defined the
responsibilities of parents, teachers and children to guarantee our children access to qualitative education.
As Governor, we inherited a state that was comatose and in the throes of insecurity. Rivers State bore the fault lines of the Niger Delta militancy.
Our immediate task was therefore to restore security and improve the social and economic well being of our people.
Ours was a two-pronged approach of fiscal and physical security.
Whilst we confronted criminality with aggressive law enforcement measures, we embarked on massive social and infrastructural development.
We declared an emergency in the education sector that guaranteed free and compulsory education up to secondary school level. During my tenure as Governor, we awarded the construction of some 500 primary
schools. 314 of these were 100 percent completed while others were virtually completed by the time we left office in May 2015.
We undertook the training and recertification of teachers already in the service of the state and employed over 13,000 new teachers.
Our efforts and investments in the education sector did not go unnoticed as Port Harcourt won the UNESCO World
Book Capital city for 2014, beating cities like Moscow and Oxford.
In the area of healthcare delivery, we built over 140 primary healthcare centres, three secondary healthcare facilities, employed 400 doctors and 200 nurses to improve the manpower in the healthcare sector.
Anyone who visited Port Harcourt while we served, will testify to the fact that we worked to bring back the old glory of Port Harcourt as the garden and city as the third leg in the economic tripod of Nigeria.
We built a dualised network of 1500 Kilometres of roads, 23 bridges, 2 major fly-overs and 2 interchanges.
In the area of power, of the 350 Megawatts (MW) total capacity generation assets invested by the government before ours, only 70MW (equivalent to about 20 per
cent) was available.
With enthusiasm, we ramped up the efficiency to 77 per cent availability including injecting another 360MW Green Field Generation Project at Afam. That massive investment is partly the reason why today, residents in Port Harcourt enjoy almost 24 hours of electricity supply.
On the whole, Mr. President of Senate, I say with pride that during our stewardship of eight years we consistently maintained our pledge to our people to render “transparent and accountable stewardship.”
To guarantee that we did not deviate from that pledge, we were the first state to pass a Fiscal Responsibility law and the Rivers State Bureau of Public Procurement law. Both laws stemmed from executive bills, and we are pleased that we maintained our stance of surrendering the power of the governor to award contracts until the end of our tenure.
Mr. President of Senate, Distinguished Senators, it is therefore fair to say that under my leadership as governor of Rivers State we redefined governance and
repositioned Rivers State as a destination choice to live, work and do business.
Accordingly Mr. President of Senate, Distinguished Senators, I give you my word that if I am confirmed as minister by this distinguished Senate, I will bring to bear my vast experience as a Legislator, Speaker and Governor in the execution of my duties

SAFETY TIPS: How to identify Suicide Bombers

SAFETY TIPS: How to identify Suicide Bombers
(PLEASE SHARE THIS MESSAGE TO SAVE A LIFE)
With the rise in the spate of suicide bombings in the country, especially with yesterday's terrorists' attacks in Abuja, Daily Correspondents, which first ran the below SAFETY TIPS in its past edition, is bringing it again to our fans all over Nigeria, and as well, for the attention of the general public. The following tips is to guide us on how to identify a suicide bomber and the safety measures to take.
According to security experts, one of the easiest ways of identifying a suicide bomber is the suspicious manner in which the bombers carry themselves, by ensuring they avoid eye contact with people around.
Although there are no specific profile for suicide bombers, as they can come from nearly every cultural background, religion, race, creed or gender, they however share some common characteristics that define a potential suicide bomber.
Here are signs you should watch out for as compiled by Daily Correspondents' forensic experts:
*Always be on the lookout, especially in trains, busses, planes, markets, malls and large events!
A suicide bomber:
*Wears loose clothing giving the impression that the body is disproportionately larger than the head or feet.
*Wears heavy clothing, no matter what the season (out of season dresses; he or she may be wearing cold sweaters during hot season).
*Has unusual gait, a "robotic" walk. Stiff movements, lack of mobility of lower torso or decreased flexibility (from wearing bomb device – however backpacks are increasingly common.
*Display of tunnel vision. The bomber often will be fixated on the target and appear nervous, preoccupied, or have a blank stare.
*He or she appears to be focused and vigilant and may be fervently praying to him/herself – giving the appearance of whispering to someone.
*Displays no response to authoritative voice or direct salutation.
*Behavior which may be consistent with no future – unconcerned about receiving purchases or change.
*Walk with deliberation – but not running – towards a visible objective.
*Demonstrates forceful actions (to reach a desired target by pushing their way through a crowd or into a restricted area)
*Displays signs of drug use - including, for example, enlarged pupils, fixed stare, and erratic behavior.
*Carries bags or backpacks (used to carry explosives, nails, and other shrapnel). The bomber generally holds his or her bag or backpack tighly. Wires sticking out of the bag.
*Has a fresh shave - a male with a fresh shave and lighter skin on his lower face. May also have shaved his or her head or have a short haircut (This may be done to disguise appearance or to be better groomed when going to paradise).
*May smell of unusual herbal/flower water (in order to smell better when going to paradise). NOTE: The unusual herbal body odour, is as a result of the incense used in the final rituals performed on them as they take off for the suicide mission.
*Has a hand in the pocket or tightly gripping something like a triggering device.

IGBO SLAUGHTERED THEMSELVES The Fallacy Of Ethnic Gang Up Against President Jonathan?

IGBO SLAUGHTERED THEMSELVES
The Fallacy Of Ethnic Gang Up Against
President Jonathan?
First it was Asari Dokubo who said President
GOODLUCK Ebele Jonathan’s defeat was a
‘gang up’. In his words “the voting pattern has
clearly shown that the Gambari North and the
Yoruba are united in the conquest of the Niger
Deltans and the Igbo of defunct Biafra with the
Middle Belt now used as pawns”. Then Daniel
Elombah in his very bias piece titled “Goodluck
Jonathan, the coward that led the Igbos to the
slaughter” said there was no elections on May
28 and the whole elections was just a decision
that President Jonathan be replaced by a
Northern Muslim. For all they care the
southwest voted for APC because of Osinbajo,a
yoruba man and the North voted APC because
of Buhari, a fulani man. Doyin Okupe gave the
‘gang up’ theory another dimension when he
wrote on his facebook wall that President
Jonathan lost because of “national and
international conspiracy”. To them President
Jonathan’s failed re-election bid has nothing to
do with his poor scorecard as an incumbent.
When do they intend telling Mr President the
truth? Chinua Achebe said in his last book that
“…part of the way to respond to confusion in
Nigeria is to blame those from other ethnic
groups or the other side of the country”.
Let’s not mislead people or try to misrepresent
this historic moment because we find ourselves
on the wrong side Of history. President
Jonathan failed everybody including the Niger
deltans and Igbo people. Can anybody in these
places sincerely say they are better off as a
people since Goodluck became President? The
Niger deltans and the Igbo people could easily
forgive him to continue because he is “their
brother” [sincerely I don’t understand how he is
the brother of the Igbos] but the rest of Nigeria
couldn’t and that is the summary of the
Presidential Elections. Let us quickly look at the
voting pattern in the 2011 and 2015 Presidential
elections in some geo-political zones to put to
bed all the noise about ethnic gang up.
In 2011 Presidential election,General Buhari
didn’t even come second in the southwest with
a yoruba man as his running mate,so why will
the yoruba people suddenly decide to vote
Buhari because of Pastor Osinbajo? President
Jonathan lost in the north-central states of
Kogi,Benue and Kwara, these are places he won
last term with a landslide. It’s hard to believe he
lost all these states because of a gang up. While
in 2011,President Jonathan won in Taraba and
Adamawa,he lost one of the two states this time
around and then went ahead to win with a
landslide in south-south and South-east geo-
political zone. If he won with a landslide as
expected in his stronghold then he shouldn’t
complain if General Buhari won with a landslide
in his stronghold of North-east and Northwest.
If the President lost in many states he won last
time to become President, the first thing to ask
is if he fulfilled his campaign promises to them
and if he did, that’s where a ‘gang up’
conspiracy can sell. President Jonathan failed to
fulfil his campaign promises. He didn’t show
sympathy or empathy when boko haram
kidnapped, butchered and burnt school children in
the North-east but expected to get their votes
and the votes of other Nigerians? In a country
with 112 million poor people, our President was
spending N1billion on food alone and he
expected people to vote for him. Under his
watch, young people were exploited and killed in
the name of NIS recruitment exercise. Did Mr
President think we have forgiven him for
increasing the price of petrol in the name of
subsidy removal? How can we forgive a
President that went partying in less than 24hrs
after the Nyanya terrorist attack? While Mr
President was telling us about almajiri
schools, the number of illiterates increased to
35million. Mr President told us we are now the
largest economy in Africa but states are finding
it difficult to pay salaries and unemployment is
still very high. He sacked a government official
who said huge amount of money was missing
and gave presidential pardon to a treasury looter
but expected us to believe he is fighting
corruption. Mr President lost because he failed
to discharge his responsibilities as a President.
The many sins of President Jonathan are too
numerous to mention.
In 2011,he came to Nigerians as a very humble
man, telling whoever cared to listen that his
ambition is not worth the blood of anybody but
in 2015 he came back to us for re-election with
the burden of broken promises,squandered
goodwill and gross incompetence. Maybe he
thought it was possible for him to manipulate
his way by using ethnicity, religion and dollars.
The ethnic card was always going to work
against him because he was from a minority
ethnic group. He couldn’t use religion again as
APC were a step ahead of him by choosing Prof
Osinbajo(a pastor of the Redeem Christian
Church of God) as the running mate of General
Buhari. By the time he started dollarizing the
political landscape,it was too late. If tomorrow
President Jonathan wants to know why he failed
in his re-election bid,he should look within and
not outside. His government was too business
as usual and as the looting of our common
wealth increased to an unimaginable level,so
also did poverty, hunger and frustration increased
on the side of the masses. The people couldn’t
take it any more and APC capitalised on this.
Those 15,424,921 votes that sent President
Jonathan packing were not votes against ijaw or
the south-south,there were votes against an
incompetent President.
I find it difficult to believe that anybody
supported President Jonathan because of his
performance. They supported him out of
selfishness or ethnic sentiments or both. He was
no Lee Kuan Yew,he was neither Nelson
Mandela nor a Martin Luther King,he is the
perfect example of a failed President. No matter
how you try to twist this historic moment,it will
not change the truth. Under President Jonathan
Nigeria was heading for destruction and the only
way to restore hope was to vote him out and we
did exactly that. This is the beginning of a new
dawn. Let’s stop preaching unnecessary hate
and division, its time to join hands and build a
great nation.
