Scientists Say That Women With Bigger Butts Give Birth To Smarter Kids

A study from the University of Oxford connects the big booty to healthy children.
According to a 2010 study from the University of Oxford, big butts result in healthy children because of the high amount of Omega 3 fatty acids (the good fatty acids) stored. These are the same fatty acids that are responsible for the normal development of the baby's brain.
But according to the Chicago Tribune, scientists have proved this a long time ago, in 2007 to be precise. They noted that women with fat-bottoms are smarter than women with flat-bottoms. Again, the reason is because of the heightened storage of Omega 3 fatty acids, which improves the functionality/development of their brain.
Evidence shows that the fat content in a mother's breast milk comes from her lower half of the body, which includes her thighs, buttocks, etc. This means that the high amount of Omega 3's becomes a part of the baby's balanced breakfast.
The high amount of Omega 3 storage could be the reason why fat-bottomed women seem attractive to men, because it becomes an evolutionary way of ensuring successful children. In the words of a common man; the reason why J. Lo seems so hot to men, is because men have a biological imperative to produce intelligent offspring.
William Lassek from the University of Pittsburgh, is the person who hypothesized this. He even went ahead and published a book titled "Why Women Need Fat."
But, having fat-bottoms is not the only way to having intelligent children. There are other factors that play a role in it, such as the overall fitness of your body, and the diet.
To conclude, stay active, stay healthy, and carry good fat below the waist, and of course, having healthy genetics doesn't hurt either.
The next study for William Lassek will undoubtedly be the biological imperative associated with an eye for blondes. But that's something we'll save for later.

Meet The Woman Biologically Allegic to Her Own Baby

. Joanne Mackie, a 28-year old mother from Erdington, West Midlands, discovered, after giving birth to her first child, that she has a rare skin disease called Pemphigoid Gestationis, which makes her allergic to her own baby. Mackie developed serious rashes and painful blisters shortly after giving birth to her son, James. The welts in her skin were so excruciating that she could not hold her own baby and was forced to cover her arms with damp towels to protect them while she feeds him. The condition, which is said to affect one in 50,000 pregnancies, arises when antibodies that normally protect the placenta become confused and attack the skin, causing blisters to form.

“At first, when I was told I was allergic to my own baby I thought it was some sort of joke,” said Mackie. “But when it sank in I was totally devastated. It felt like my world had caved in. It was such a heartbreaking time. I had to watch while my husband gave our son his first bath. And in those first few weeks when James cried I had to watch as my husband picked him up to comfort him instead of me.” Fortunately, a month after doctors treated her allergy using strong steroids, Mackie finally was able to hold her baby without feeling any pain. “I have been told there is a 95 percent chance I will get this in my next pregnancy and this time the doctors say it could affect the baby. I am not sure I could put myself through it all again,” said Mackie. “But I have learned that a cuddle from your own child is the most precious thing in the world. Now I can cradle my little lad, it’s heaven. I never want to let him go.”
Pemphigoid gestationis often appears in pregnancy during the second or third trimester and/or immediately after birth. It is usually treated with a course of corticosteroids like prednisone.

OPEN CALL : Negative Effects Of Smoking Shisha

It may interest you to know that #Shisha smoking is quite becoming the fastest trend now in parties, clubs, bars, and even some homes. Also known in some countries as narghile, hookah or goza; #Shisha is a waterpipe wit a bowl, a hose, a smoke chamber & a pipe/mouthpiece. Specially made tobacco is heated & the smoke passes through water, absorbed into a hose connected to a mouthpiece for the smoker, The origin of #Shisha is disputed, some say Turkey or India but it’s accepted it came from Middle East/Asia. Shisha is global now though.
Shisha smoking is a way of smoking tobacco, sometimes mixed with fruits or molasses sugar, through a bowl & a hose with a mouthpiece. The hose connects the flavored smoke from substances being burnt in the bowl to the lungs of the smoker through the mouthpiece Shisha pipes use tobacco sweetened wit fruits or molasses sugar which makes shisha smoking a more pleasurable experience than cigarettes.

Popular #Shisha flavors include apple, mango, strawberries, coconut & mint. This gives the smoked tobacco a sweet smell & smooth taste. The presence of the fruits & flavor makes the #Shisha damp, so the tobacco is burnt with wood/charcoal to bring out its smoke & aroma. The sweet scent, the pleasurable taste & the awesome feeling is the reason that #Shisha smoking is now a regular habit for many people. For some people, a Friday evening is not complete without at least one hour of #Shisha smoking. For others it’s up to 3 or 4 times a week.
Now because of the flavors, the sweet aroma & nice taste, there’s a gross misconception that #Shisha is NOT harmful, unlike cigarettes.
Others say since the tobacco smoke has passed through water, all the toxic chemicals in the #Shisha have been filtered out. This is a lie. I need to be very assertive in stating categorically that #Shisha smoking is a destructive habit regardless of the smoke being flavored. Despite the fact that #Shisha is flavored & passed through water, the carcinogens (cancer-causing agents) & nicotine remains very present. Regular #Shisha smokers should know they are at risk of the same medical problems as cigarette/tobacco smokers. The nicotine present in #Shisha smoke is very addictive & things may degenerate that the smoker may need the #Shisha every day.

According to a W.H.O research, the amount of smoke inhaled in one hour of #Shisha smoking is the same as smoking 100-200 cigarettes. People smoke #Shisha for longer periods than they smoke cigarettes. Just 1 puff of inhaled #Shisha smoke is like smoking a whole cigarette.
It’s hard to imagine but its true. Just one hour of #Shisha is same as smoking abt 100-200 cigarettes. Yet people smoke #Shisha for hours. The wrong assumption that Shisha smoking is harmless compared to cigarettes is the reason why many engage in reckless #Shisha smoking. Just like cigarettes, #Shisha smoke contains toxic agents like tobacco, nicotine, tar, Carbon monoxide, and heavy metals like Arsenic. The nicotine content of #Shisha is very addictive and may lead to a smoker being dependent.

That’s why they feel incomplete without it.Shisha smokers are at risk of heart disease, respiratory problems, various cancer types & in women, possible problems in pregnancy.
Is herbal #Shisha safe? NO. It is not. Shisha, whether herbal/not, usually contains tobacco & that is the cause of many medical issues. And even if u find a tobacco-free #Shisha, the smoke u inhale from the wood/charcoal contains Carbon monoxide that destroys the lungs.

Are fruit-based #Shisha safe? NO as well. Whether fruitbased or not, Shisha contains tobacco rich in smoke containing many toxins.
Also before You start feeling “This #Shisha talk is none of my business”, do u frequently visit bars/clubs where there’s a lot of Shisha smoking? If u go to bars/clubs with friends where there’s lots of #Shisha smoking, u are a secondary smoker, even if the tube isnt in your mouth. Shisha tobacco and smoke are medically known to contain carcinogenic agents that may cause lung cancer, oral cancer & bladder cancer. Babies born to pregnant women who smoke #Shisha weigh less at birth & are at higher risk of respiratory problems, than other babies.

The American Lung Association, the British Heart Foundation and the W.H.O all say that #Shisha smoking is medically harmful to smokers.
So after saying all the harmful consequences of #Shisha smoking, the solution is to STOP smoking. Let me give simple tips that may help.

1. Make up your mind to stop. That’s the first step & the most important step. Be determined to stop, even if u fail at first.

2 Try to avoid friends, occasions, bars & parties where u know u wont be able to say no to smoking. Think of ur health & stay determined

3 Always remember smoking, or drinking, is not synonymous to “class” or “being rich”. It is ignorant people that reason that way.

4 Cut down on alcohol. It has been found that some types of alcohol eg beer, usually makes smoking taste so good. Just stay away.

5 Identify times u crave #Shisha. Try to distract yourself. Walk away. Dance. Go online. Chew a gum. Make a call. Anything else but smoke.

6 Make friends with non smokers. That way u reduce temptation. Never envy smokers/see smoking as something you miss. Only think of your health.

Nigeria-made rapid urine test for malaria wins Health Innovation Awards

A Nigeria-made malaria test that can diagnose the disease within 25 minutes using just drops of patients’ urine sample has won the inaugural 2015 Health Innovation Challenge Awards.
The awards was instituted by the Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria (PHN) through the Nigeria Health Innovation Marketplace (NHIM).
Urine Malaria Test (UMT), which is endorsed by the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) and approved by the National Agency for Food Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and developed by Fyodor Biotechnologies was the first among the five winning innovations from the 2015 Health Innovation Challenge.
The overall performance of the UMT is equivalent to that of the Binax NOW blood test, the only malaria rapid test approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The award given to Fyodor UMT comes with a grant of $100,000 and enrollment in the accelerated programme of the NHIM.
The presentation was made yesterday in Lagos, at the 2015 Nigeria Health Innovation and Impact Investment Summit.
The Nigeria Health and Innovation Impact Investment Summit event was tagged “2015 Disrupting Healthcare, Saving Lives.” The activation of the PHN was formally endorsed by former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Mr. Bill Gates, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Dr. Muhammad Ali Pate, Mr. Jim Ovia, Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, Mrs. Sola David Borha and other corporate leaders in Nigeria to mobilise the broader business and corporate community as well as the private health sector towards a multi-sectoral coalition to improving health outcomes.
It has been shown that the private sector has the potential to expand the access to health services, improve quality of care and complement the public sector’s efforts in addressing health system challenges in the country.
Co-Chair of PHN and Chairman of Zenith Bank, Jim Ovia, said: “The innovators are not making money but they are contributing to saving lives and improving society. We will give them all the support and definitely they will be making money in the future.”
Chief Executive Officer of PHN, Dr. Muntaqa Umar-Sadiq said: “It is important to use innovative platforms to improve health. Despite millions of dollars invested in healthcare we are not seeing the result. So we need bold and innovative approach to improve our health indices.”
Umar-Sadiq said various players in the country including PHN, Health Strategy and Delivery Foundation (HSDF), Flint Atlantic Capital, International Finance Corporation (IFC) and others are already converging a market for healthcare social enterprise and impact investment capital.
Meanwhile, the first runner up award went to Medical Devices as a Service (MDaaS) with a cash grant of $50,000 in addition to participate in the accelerated NHIM programme.
MDaaS is a company that makes medical devices available, accessible and affordable to underserved health facilities across Nigeria. MDaaS provides hospitals with a range of device acquisition options and offer world-class service support with each device.
The second runner up award went to e-Heal (Electronic Health Education in Any Language) with a grant of $30,000 and participation in the accelerated NHIM programme.

See how to make natural Medicine from WATERMELON to help you stay Longer in Bed

All you need is the watermelon as the main ingredient – it is said to be rich in an amino acid called citrulline, which relaxes and dilates blood vessels. It functions like Viagra and other enhancers used by men with ED.
It is sad that too many men suffer from Erectile Dysfunctions(ED).
They either cannot get their pe.nises erect enough for se.x or they lose the erections as quickly as they get it, making se.x awful.
However, every man must know that ED is a health signal that simply indicates a lack of adequate blood circulation, especially to the sexual organs.
Now, instead of going to buy the expensive counter Viagra or any other similar supplement, many of which are fake, you can actually make your own se.x-booster at home, naturally, with readily available fruits.
All you need is the watermelon as the main ingredient – it is said to be rich in an amino acid called citrulline, which relaxes and dilates blood vessels.

Heart Attack: Why More People Die

Scientists have find out why more people die from heart disease during the winter.
The increase in deaths from cardiovascular illness in cold periods was previously blamed on people doing physically demanding tasks, like shovelling snow, but doctors did not understand the biology behind the seasonal rise.
Now researchers claim that a kind of body fat previously thought to be beneficial leads to a narrowing of blood vessels when a person is exposed to low temperatures.
Brown fat, which is used by the body to generate heat, was previously thought to have a positive effect on a person’s health as it reduces the body’s reserves of flabby white fat.
However, scientists found that when brown fat’s heat generation is activated by the cold it speeds up the growth of atherosclerotic plaque, made up of fat and cholesterol, in veins and arteries.

World Bank gives Nigeria N99.5b to improve maternal health

World Bank gives Nigeria N99.5b to improve maternal health
The World Bank said it has released N99.5 billion ($500 million) for the Nigerian government to improve on maternal and child health and nutrition.
In a statement, the World Bank said the fund was approved by the World Bank Group’s Board of Executive Directors through the International Development Association. The fund is expected to “significantly” improve maternal, child, and nutrition health services for women and children in Nigeria.
Through this funding, an improvement in the access of higher quality health service in order to achieve Nigeria’s “Saving One Million Lives, SOML, Initiative,” a project is paramount.
The SOML initiative was launched by Nigeria’s Ministry of Health in October 2012 to save the lives of the more than 900,000 women and children who die every year in Nigeria from largely preventable causes.
Nigeria accounts for 14 per cent of all annual maternal deaths worldwide, second only to India at 17 per cent. Similarly, Nigeria accounts for 13 per cent of all global deaths of children under the age of five years, again second only to India at 21 per cent.
The World Bank’s funding support for the initiative will utilize the Program-for-Results, PforR, instrument to encourage a greater focus on results, increase accountability, improve measurements, strengthen management, and foster innovation.
This program will help strengthen Nigeria’s health system and development says, Marie Francoise Marie-Nelly, Nigeria’s Country Director.
Ms. Marie-Nelly said the program will also provide an important tool for bringing both government and development partners together around a commitment to achieve specific, tangible results.
These funds, World Bank said will only be disbursed to the Federal and State governments for independently verified improvements in key services such as vaccination coverage among young children, rates of contraceptive use, Vitamin A supplementation and skilled birth attendance.
Others include: HIV counselling and testing among women attending antenatal care, and preventing new malaria infections among children by using insecticide- treated bed nets when they sleep.
Also, Federal and State governments receive incentive payments for better tackling governance and management issues in the health sector and for improving the quality of basic health services.
SOML will be implemented under the Federal Ministry of Health, in close cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Finance which will provide the financial oversight role while new health operation is expected to start implementation on August 1, 2015.
The operation will end after four years, in December 2019

Police Arrested For Intentionally Infecting His Gir’lfriend With HIV

A cop who was fired from two Florida police departments has
now been arrested for knowingly infecting his girlfr’iend with
HIV.
The longtime girlf’riend of officer Dexter Richardson, 47, says
he was aware of his status but never told her.
On Tuesday, August 5, 2014 Richardson was charged with
having uninformed HIV interc;οurse.
In May the woman went to police with the accusations, telling
police that she’d been infected by Richardson. She said that
initially, Richardson denied having HIV but later admitted he’d
been living with the disease for around a decade.
Investigators confirm that Richardson was aware that he’d
been infected but never told his girlfriend.
Richardson has a history in Florida law enforcement, having
been fired from two departments in his career. Richardson was
let go from Pompano Beach for being involved in at least eight
unjustified accidents, and while working for the Riviera Beach
Police Department, he was let go for giving information to an
officer who was under investigation.
Richardson was also arrested for getting into a fight at a gas
station when a clerk refused to allow him to use the bathroom.
Police suspect that Richardson’s girlfriend may not be the only
woman who the former cop had sεx with while infected with
HIV.
Richardson was arrested by police on Sunday, August 3, 2014
and later released on bond.
Sadly, Richardson is the second officer from Palm Beach
County to be accused of knowingly spreading HIV.
A reporter from the Palm Beach Post was unsuccessful in
reaching Richardson and his attorney.
Anyone else who has had sεx with Richardson is advised to
contact Riviera Beach police at (561) 845-4123 and request to
speak to the detective assigned to the Dexter Richardson case.

Strange Ondo Killer Disease Linked To Exhumed Corpse (Report)

All 14 deaths recorded in Ode Irele, Ondo state, from a
“strange” ailment are directly connected to an exhumed
corpse in the community, Kayode Akinmade, the Ondo state
commissioner for information and strategy, has said.
247NN had reported that the unidentified disease is
ravaging the Ode-Irele community in Ondo State and has left
28 people dead in the past three days.
Speaking with TheCable , Akinmade said the diseases was
not the same as Ebola Virus Disease (EVD), although it had
managed to kill its victims in less than 24 hours.
“The symptoms were not that of Ebola; it’s a 24-hour attack
that would make the victim to have headache, be
unconscious, then after 24 hours, the person is gone. That
one cannot be Ebola,” he said. “All the necessary facility that
government should provide, government has done that. We
have moved all the ambulances and everything.”
He added that although there were claims that as many as 34
people had died, only 14 people had fallen victim of the
strange disease. “Available data do not indicate that 34
people have died – only 14,”he said. “And from what we got,
the 14 had personal contacts with those people who came to
exhume the corpse that led to this epidemic.”
He added that the state commissioner for health, Dayo
Akinyanju would “in the next couple of hours, make a state
wide broadcast” to update Nigerians on the state of the
disease. Soji Gbadebo, the permanent secretary (protocol), in
the state who also spoke with TheCable, corroborated
Akinmade’s position.
“There is a general allusion that there was a – there was
something buried there (Ode Irele) and some people went
there to exhume the thing, and sold it to this English
people,” Gbadebo said.
“Only those who were directly involved have been affected by
this epidemic. “Meanwhile, government has sent powerful
health team there to unravel the mystery, so, for now, we
may not know what actually happened until a scientific
report unfolds it.” Speaking anonymously, a resident said the
disease had claimed 34 lives although the newspapers
reported just 12.
On Thursday, the strange ailment was reported to have
claimed 12 lives in Ode-Irele, a community in Irele local
government area of the state. The disease is characterised
with headache in victims, then loss of sight, and finally
death, all in a few hours.
The state government has said it is using equipment bought
for the prevention and control of Ebola virus disease in the
state to isolate the victims and control the unknown
outbreak. Samples from the victims have been collected and
sent to laboratories for investigation, with the World Health
Organisation (WHO) already in the know.

This is What Happens When You Put Cut Up Onions in Your Socks While You Sleep

The bottom of your feet are powerful and direct access points
to internal organs in your body through what is known as
meridians in Chinese medicine. These meridians are pathways
to each organ with your body. Some people say that meridians
do not exist within the body or at the bottom of the feet. For
those that understand Chinese medicine you may know that the
meridian system is very closely correlated with the nervous
system.
If you believe you have nerves and a nervous system, you
believe you have meridians too, it’s basically the same thing
when you interpret it and look at where the meridians are
within the body.
The bottom of the feet have many different nerve endings,
approximately 7,000 (basically meridians) that directly link to
different organs within the body. They are very powerful
electrical circuits within the body and are often dormant
because we wear shoes and don’t get accupuncture done to
help the meridians or nerves in any way. This is why I
recommend walking outside barefoot! To stimulate those
meridians on the bottom of your feet as well as to ground
yourself with the earth’s negative ion field.
One of the coolest ways to open up these electrical pathways
(meridians) and to help purify your internal organs without
doing anything internal (diet related) is to cut up onions or
garlic and put them in your socks (at the bottom part of your
feet) while sleeping.
Onions and garlic are known air purifiers and when applied to
the skin topically they kill germs and bacteria but also the
phosphoric acid (the substance from onions that makes you cry
when you cut them open) enters the bloodstream it helps to
purify the blood and kill any bacteria or germs that may be
festering waiting to give you the flu.
Some people go so far as to say to never reuse an onion
because it will collect germs and bacteria and then you’re
eating that. I am not sure if this is true or not because it’s a
percentage of people that say it is, and some that say it isn’t!
What I do know though is that the onions do age (oxidize, age
from oxygen) on the layer that’s cut open and eating oxidized
food isn’t the freshest and healthiest form of that food, so
cutting that layer off before you eat the onion may be smart to
avoid eating germ or bacteria infested layer of onion.
So it’s fairly simple, here are the two steps to purify your blood,
and kill germs and bacteria.
Step 1: Cut Up Organic Onions Into Slices (White or Red
Onions)
You’ll want to use organic onions because they will be free of
pesticides and other chemicals you don’t want sitting on your
feet and entering your bloodstream all night. You’ll just want to
cut the onions into flat slices so that they can be applied to the
bottom of your entire foot (like a platform) so the bottom of
your feet are immersed with onion while you sleep.
Step 2: Put The Onions In Your Sock Under Your Foot
(on the bottom) And Sleep!
As you sleep the natural healing powers of the onion will go to
work through your skin (trans-dermal application) purifying
your blood and killing bacteria and germs as well as absorbing
toxins! It will also help to purify the air in your room.
You’ll benefit from the air purifying effects as well! In England,
during plagues they would chop up onions and leave them in
the room to purify the air and to help them not be susceptible
to infections, the flu or anything that may harm them.
As you can see here in the picture below the organs and
systems within the body and their meridian connection points
in the foot.
Here are the benefits of cutting up an onion and putting it in
your sock (at the bottom) while you sleep…
1. Purify your blood: Phosphoric acid from the onions as it’s
applied and absorbed through trans-dermal means purifies the
blood.
2. Kills bacteria, germs and pathogens: Onions (and garlic) have
strong anti-bacterial and anti-viral benefits!
3. Purify the air: This little chamber of smelly onion around
your feet will purify the air and keep your feet smelling better
and free of toxins and chemicals pulling them out of your feet
while you sleep.
If you found this information cool, useful or valuable please hit
share and let your friends on facebook benefit from this as well!

South Africa Performs World’s First Successful Penis Transplant

The world’s first successful penis transplant was recently
performed at Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town.
This pioneering operation restored the dignity of a 21-year-old
man who lost his penis when it developed gangrene after a
ritual circumcision, and it has probably also given him back the
ability to father his own children naturally – something doctors
hint he has been trying out for more than a month. “The patient
is very happy and he’s doing well,” says Prof André van der
Merwe, head of Stellenbosch University’s Division of Urology,
who led the surgery. In a marathon nine-hour operation,
doctors surgically transplanted the entire penis (from the glans
to the base) from an organ donor. The patient’s own penis had
to be amputated three years ago in order to save his life,
leaving him with a stump no longer than 1.5cm after which he
was unable to urinate standing up or have sexual intercourse.
The patient has made a full recovery from the transplant, which
took place three months ago. He is able to obtain erections,
urinate standing up and has regained sensation in the organ.
This is the second time that this type of procedure was
attempted, but the first time in history that a successful long-
term result was achieved.
“There is a greater need in South Africa for this type of
procedure than elsewhere in the world, as many young men
lose their penises every year due to complications from ritual
circumcision,” Van der Merwe told Health-e News.
“For a young man of 18 or 19 years the loss of penis can be
deeply traumatic… there are even reports of suicide among
these young men”
Although there are no formal record on the number of penile
amputations per year due to ritual circumcision, one study
reported up to 55 cases in the Eastern Cape alone, and experts
estimate as many as 250 amputations per year across the
country.
“This is a very serious situation. For a young man of 18 or 19
years the loss of penis can be deeply traumatic. He doesn’t
necessarily have the psychological capability to process this.
There are even reports of suicide among these young men,”
says Van der Merwe. The operation was part of a pilot study to
develop a penile transplant procedure that could be performed
in a typical South African hospital theatre setting.
“The research was conducted in partnership with local public
health structures and will be delivered to the people who need
it most,” says Dr Nicola Barsdorf, head of Health Research
Ethics at Stellenbosch University’s Faculty of Medicine and
Health Sciences (FMHS). “Once the surgery is made broadly
available it will be offered in state facilities and accessible to
vulnerable groups that are often unable to afford state-of-the-
art health care.”
Nine more patients will receive penile transplants as part of the
study. This procedure could eventually also be extended to men
who have lost their penises from cancer or as a last-resort
treatment for severe erectile dysfunction due to medication side
effects. The planning and preparation for the study started in
2010. After extensive research Van der Merwe and his surgical
team decided to use some parts of the model and techniques
developed for the first facial transplant. The surgeons
connected blood vessels and nerves as small as 1mm to 2mm
using microsurgery usually employed in plastic and
reconstructive surgery.
“South Africa remains at the forefront of medical progress,” says
Prof Jimmy Volmink, FMHS Dean. “This procedure is another
excellent example of how medical research, technical know-
how and patient-centred care can be combined in the quest to
relieve human suffering.

Adulterous South African couple gets stucked together after sex

A Johannesburg man and an adulterous woman found themselves unable to separate from each other after having sex in the woman's home, this is according to a report by SA's Daily Sun. When the man and the married woman got stuck together, they screamed for help, attracting the attention of many people in the neighbourhood. Read the full story from Daily Sun below.. The rumour quickly spread that a cheating man had died after he got stuck in his lover’s punani. And a crowd of about 2 000 people gathered at Dena Court in Yeoville, Joburg. The police had to be called. People were allegedly pepper sprayed and the amaBerethe chased people away with sjamboks. Many people claimed the police fired rubber bullets. Image Priscilla Ndlovu (34) who claims to be a resident at the same flats told Daily Sun they heard screams from the room where the woman stays on Thursday night. “At first we thought it was just the screams of sexual pleasure, but it turned to be screams for help,” said Priscilla. She said they called the security who forced the door open and saw the naked man on top of the naked woman pleading for help to be separated, but nobody could force them apart.” She said everyone was shocked and afraid of what they saw. “We always hear of such things happening but we have never seen it,” she said. A family member of the husband of the cheating wife said the husband had been complaining about his cheating wife. “He complained she was going out with his friend,” said the woman. “I think he locked his wife to catch the man she’s cheating with.” She said in Zimbabwe, where they come from, it is a common way of catching cheating men and women. “No one will separate them until the husband comes back from Zimbabwe to unlock them,” she said. A Zimbabwean who spoke to Daily Sun said locking a woman with muthi was a common way of catching and punishing cheating lovers in their country. By Friday morning, when the crowd saw the ambulance at the flats they chanted: “We want to see them! Show us the cheaters!” Cops were kept busy keeping the crowd at bay. Three streets were blocked off, causing major traffic jams and motorists had to use alternative routes. The ambulance finally raced off at high speed. It is not known if the couple were inside. Neither the police nor the paramedics could confirm if the two were taken to hospital or not. Sangoma Mathabo Mofokeng said husbands put muthi in their wives’ punani to lock their women. “There is muthi that is used by some men to catch cheating couples,” she said.

Ebola outbreak: final vaccine trials to start this month or next, WHO says

HEALTHSierra Leone plans to start vaccine trials in the second half of January If experimental Ebola vaccines prove effective, the shots will be available for deployment in a few months. (Steve Parsons/Associated Press) Final-stage trials of experimental Ebola vaccines will begin in January or February in the worst-hit West African countries as scientists and drugmakers race to block the deadly disease, the World Health Organization said on Thursday. If effective, the shots will be available for deployment a few months later. Nearly 90 experts from vaccine manufacturers, regulatory agencies and health ministries met at WHO headquarters to review data from initial safety trials and finalize plans for pivotal Phase III clinical trials in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea. "It is my understanding that no major safety signals have been reported to date," WHO director-general Margaret Chan told the talks in opening remarks. "We all want the momentum and sense of urgency to continue," she said. "Too many health care workers are still getting infected, including nationals and doctors and nurses from foreign medical teams." Two vaccines from GlaxoSmithKline and another from a collaboration between NewLink Genetics and Merck started initial clinical testing in the autumn. A third one from Johnson & Johnson and Bavarian Nordic has just reached the first-in-human testing stage. Officials from GSK, Merck and J&J all addressed the closed-door meeting. In addition, officials heard from developers of earlier-stage vaccines, including U.S.-based Novavax and Russia's Influenza Research Institute. The talks also assessed the funding situation, after the GAVI global vaccines alliance said last month it was committing up to $300 million US to buy Ebola shots. Ebola outbreak: Quarantine 'just like a jail' in Sierra Leone Sierra Leone, the country worst affected by Ebola, plans to start vaccine trials in the second half of January, Samuel Kargbo of its health ministry told Reuters Television on the sidelines of the Geneva talks. Ebola continues to spread in the Liberian capital of Monrovia, with cases scattered throughout the city, making it hard to identify distinct chains of transmission, Chan said. Many believe that the virus has moved from the cities into extremely remote rural areas, making
